WORK EXPERIENCE:
Shrek the Musical National Tour (2024)
Served as David Lindsay-Abaire’s writing associate during the rehearsal process and tech for the 2024 National Tour of Shrek the Musical.
Ali the Musical Author Sessions (2023 - 2024)
Served as Clint Dyer’s script assistant for the early workshop/writing sessions of the Broadway-bound Muhammad Ali musical.
48th Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival (2023)
18, an original short play, made it to the top 6 and won the 48th Samuel French OOB Festival.
18 was published and is licensed for performance by Concord Theatricals.
Dream of the Red Chamber Opera Librettist Internship (2022)
Attended final sitzprobes, staging and tech rehearsals. Drafted daily rehearsal reports and acted as a liaison to the San Francisco Opera for David Henry Hwang.
Observed the process of DRC’s remounting while learning the intricacies of opera adaptation and libretto work.
Leo’s Requiem: Columbia University MFA Thesis Production (2024)
Wrote and workshopped Leo’s Requiem under the tutelage of David Henry Hwang and Lynn Nottage.
Collaborated with Stephen Berkemeier on an original choral classical requiem score with a mix of Americana songs.
Worked with a creative team of MFA students to develop the play and recorded a virtual choir for the rehearsals and live performances.
The Bridge: Columbia University Second Year Workshop Production (2023)
Wrote and developed The Bridge, a new play with a team of MFA students (director, dramaturg, and producer).
115: Columbia University’s First Year Playwrights Festival (2022)
Wrote and produced Thin Places for Columbia’s short play festival.
Managed ticket sales, ticket distribution and front of house check ins.
Darius StoryLAB (2020-Present)
Published three books: Wonder Boy: A Science Fiction Short, Only The Golden Sky Knows and HAZE Book One: An American Thriller Novella in eBook and Paperback.
Developed an online writer’s studio and publishing company to independently publish books, original poetry, screenwriting, and playwriting work.
Wrote, narrated, and edited two original audio fiction series, Project It Guy and HAZE: The Audiobook Fiction Podcast
Detroit Fringe Festival (2019)
Wrote and developed a new version of The Fly & Incredibly Dope Adventures of Tyrone Jenkins: A Detroit Hip Hop Musical with the support of a mentor.
Performed two scenes from the show and collaborated with the production team on lighting/projection design for the performance.
